The first phase installation of arc fault detection system at Shanghai Volkswagen has been successfully completed, exclusively by Xiyu. 

The Shanghai Volkswagen plant is one of the largest car-

makers in China, with total area of 3.33km2, rodent is a very serious issue. Rats like to chew wires and damage the wire insulation; this could lead to extreme high heat and sparks, resulting electrical fire. Besides, factory is located in the seaside, saline environment accelerates wire aging. Shanghai Volkswagen installed different specification breakers that can prevent short circuit, leakage, overload, over-voltage and other electrical hazards. However, many widespread problems such as rat bite insulation damage, poor wire contact, broken wire harness and wire aging problems are not covered, there are no effective solution applied to prevent them. When there is a dangerous arc fault, extreme high heat spark will cause fire and serious damages.

Ningbo Xiyu Electronic Development Company Limited developed arc fault detection devices that can offer real-

time monitoring on any arc fault hazards. When there is an arc fault, the built in audible and visual alarm will be activated automatically, and upload the data to the arc fault relay module for record. Shanghai Volkswagen take electrical safety seriously, after several discussions and examined the effectiveness of Xiyu’s arc fault detection device, they were very pleased with the result and have quickly set up a special team to cooperate with Xiyu on the installation project.
